The English Democrats party was formed in 2002 because the New labour Government in its rush to secure national devolution for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, completely ignored the interests and indeed the existence of England. Our primary objective is the creation of an English Parliament and Executive within the United Kingdom with the same powers as the Scottish Parliament and Executive.

We believe that the people of the England need a political party which will represent their interests and the interests of England as a nation in its own right. We are proud to call ourselves English patriots but we are not racists or extremists. Membership of the English Democrats Party is open to anyone, whatever their ethnicity or culture. All we require is that members are broadly in agreement with our manifesto and abide by the rules of our constitution.

We are committed to the creation of a Parliament for England but we are not a single issue party. We are committed to government of the people of England, by the people of England and  for the people of England.  We believe it is important to preserve the traditional freedoms of the people of England such as   Habeas Corpus and trial by Jury. We believe in a system of government that gives as much power and freedom as possible to the people and communities of England

As a political party we recognise that real Democracy is much more than the ability to choose, from time to time, between broadly similar parties which compete amongst themselves for power. Real democracy is measured by the ability of the people to manage their political, economic, physical, and cultural environment. We believe in real LOCAL Government not artificial Regional Bureaucracies.  We believe that any change in the Constitution or Government of England should only be made by the people of England in a Referendum.

We believe that the people of England have the right to decide whether they wish to remain part of the European Union. If the people of England wish to remain part of the European Union then they are entitled to have their views and interests represented in the EU in the same way that the interests of Scotland and Wales are represented by their Devolved executives.

English Democrats come from widely varying backgrounds and from all parts of England. We are a new, vigorous and growing group of individuals frustrated by the failures and arrogance of the professional politicians of the existing parties. Join us and play a part in building a party that represents your views, your interests and your country.
