ST GEORGE'S DAY TOPS EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY PETITION

More than 180,000 people have signed a petition urging the Government to introduce an extra Bank Holiday, with St George's Day the preferred date, it was revealed today.

Travel firm Thomas Cook said a campaign it had launched for a new day off had captured the public's imagination, with one in three opting for April 23.

Simon Carter of Thomas Cook said St George's Day was not ideal for the whole of the UK to celebrate, adding: "Perhaps it would be more appropriate to have a more unified day, not just for England but the whole of the UK, such as the number two favourite of Remembrance Day or the Queen's Birthday

National Council Meeting - Saturday 12 January

The 15 National Council Members of the English Democrats will meet for the first time this year on Saturday 12 January 2008 in Leciester.

On a long agenda are plans to finalise the London Mayoral Elections plans, and acceptance of policy items for the General Meeting on 23 February 2008 in Windsor.

UK is now Federal State

Even the name the NHS Confederation cannot hide the fact that whatever politicians say the UK is in effect a Federal State. The operation of the NHS is proof positive that the "nations" of the union are now drifting apart in terms of NHS priorities, provision and structure.

Only England does not have full federal control over her own affairs, labouring under the neglected West Lothian Question which will become increasingly urgent as the year progresses.

The following article from the BBC explains how the federal differences are playing out, and how lame Gordon Brown is sounding when he talks about NHS priorities,which is invariably English NHS Policy. He has considerable influence over English priorities

despite the fact no one in England has ever voted for him.

The growing demands for England to have her own Parliament will be louder as the year progresses and the shameful neglect by Parliament of England's right to have her voice heard without the intereference of Scottish, Welsh and Irish politicians.

England expects to have an NHS at least as good as that provided to Scotland, at present the health gap is too wide and there is little evidence Gordon Brown will change it.

Leading & Founding Member of Family Justice Campaign joins English Democrats

The English Democrats are delighted that the founding father of the most controversial and high profile pressure group of modern times, has decided to join the Campaign to ensure "Justice for England " as a member of the English Democrats Party.

He was also named GQ Magazine's 7th Top Communicator in the UK, the 92nd Most Powerful Man In Britain and was also named as Esquire Magazine's 35th Most Powerful Man In Britain Under 50 in 2005.

He has spoken at the Oxford Union on numerous occasions and last year wrote his his first book which was published in August 2007.

A film about his life story is in development with Miramax.

He is also working on a stage musical version of his story and other related projects including his prospective involvement with the English Democrats.
